Mayor London Breed wrote to the UC regents last July inviting them to open a campus downtown. Touting the opportunities for students in San Francisco, Breed also dangled the availability of many properties to choose from and noted that the city has a “distinctive talent pool,” a “storied history of successful innovation” and plenty of artificial intelligence chops.
