Regents' Mask Addendum

Yesterday, we posted the Regents preliminary agenda. There has been a change in the rules regarding mask wearing that appears to be new for the upcoming meeting.

According to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, a no-mask covering requirement was added to the Regents' public comments and attendance regulations some time after the March meetings. The March 29, 2025 version of public comment guidelines captured by the Wayback Machine added the statement below:

In-person attendance requirements

The wearing of masks or any face covering in the meeting room is prohibited, except that an attendee may wear a single, transparent mask provided at the meeting entrance.* Individuals wearing non-transparent masks or face coverings may view the meeting from the designated Overflow Room. Individuals wearing non-transparent masks or face coverings who wish to deliver public comment must do so by phone from the designated Overflow Room.

*The mask provided at the meeting entrance must be worn in the manner intended by the manufacturer.

The previous version captured on Feb. 9, 2025 had a different message:

In-person attendance requirements

Meeting attendees must follow COVID-related protocols, per campus guidelines. Masking is strongly recommended. Safety requirements vary by campus and are subject to change. Please see the appropriate meeting agenda for specific requirements.
