As we have noted, the campus really needs to make a decision about what happens in week 5 of the winter quarter by the end of this week to give instructors adequate notice. More online or back to in-person instruction? And, of course, the background information is incomplete and contradictory. An optimist seems to be someone who reads the online edition of today's LA Times (above). A pessimist is someone who reads the print edition. In both cases, the only agreement seems to be that you should be sticking something up your nose.
Maybe there is a glimmer of a downturn in cases...
...but it could be a blip and not a trend.
