It's hard to keep up

From an email received yesterday:

Dear University of California Community:

With the transition to a new federal administration, we are seeing a steady stream of evolving news and policy updates from Washington, D.C., many of which require careful evaluation. We understand that these developments are raising questions and concerns across our community and may be affecting the ability to maintain normal business and studies.

As always, the University of California remains committed to supporting our students, faculty, staff, and patients by providing accurate information, thorough guidance, and access to key resources.

Across the UC system, teams are working diligently to assess how executive orders and other federal actions may impact the University, including research funding, student aid, DEI efforts, healthcare services, and more. To support these resources, we have developed a resource hub on federal updates that includes a dashboard of executive actions, key messages, and support resources, including for undocumented members of the UC community:

https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/federal-updates

This site will be regularly updated as new information becomes available and we gain clarity on potential impacts.

In addition to the online resource hub on federal updates, several coordinated efforts are in place to provide clarity and alignment:

UC External Relations and Communications, in partnership with UC Legal, is systematically analyzing the executive orders, memos, and directives to understand their potential impact on UC programs and individuals.

UC Federal Governmental Relations is providing daily updates on key federal developments to UC leadership.

Systemwide coordination among campus leaders is ongoing with vice chancellors for research, communications teams, and federal and state governmental relations staff working together to assess emerging issues and develop advice and strategies.

UC Legal is offering timely legal guidance in response to federal actions.

The Office of Graduate, Undergraduate, and Equity Affairs is engaging directly with international students, scholars, directors, and resource center directors to address concerns and provide support.

We appreciate your patience and collaboration as we navigate these changes.  Our collective efforts will help maintain the University’s focus of teaching, research, and public service, all of which contribute to positive impacts locally, nationally, and globally.

Sincerely,

Meredith Vivian Turner

Senior Vice President

External Relations and Communications
