We continue our tracking of new weekly California claims for unemployment insurance as a gauge of the condition of the labor market and the state economy. As with our prior post today, we are late in catching up with this indicator which we normally review by the weekend. In any case, we remained, as we have for several weeks, at pre-pandemic levels through the week ending May 28th. Nothing much has happened - which is Good News. The labor market shows no sign of weakening.
