A Glimpse of the World to Come

FAT CHANCE!
Yours truly has it on "high authority" that an announcement of the results of the search for a new UC president will not occur at the upcoming May Regents meeting but is more likely for the July meeting. We'll see about that.

As for other glimpses of the future, our current UC prez sent a letter to the governor and legislative leaders about the loss of revenue and added expenses of UC due to the coronavirus crisis. You can find, read, and download the letter here:


She also wrote to the various UC unions with Bad News at the end of April:


And, in a public webinar excerpted on a Bay Area radio station, she more or less confirmed that the likely reopening of the campuses will be along the lines of the "hybrid" model, i.e., some courses online and some in person, more limited dorms, etc. Again, "high authority" suggests that decisions will be made sometime in June.
