Virus Forecast Revised to Recession - Part 2

We had earlier posted about the revision to recession of the UCLA Anderson Forecast for March 2020. Again, it is important to note that a downturn in the economy and in financial markets is likely to have a significant negative effect on the California state budget. Such an effect is bound to be felt at UC. The Regents are meeting today through Thursday and one of the agenda items is a tuition increase. Whether the Regents will postpone that decision to the May meeting is unclear, nor is it clear how recent events, combined with the more negative outlook for the state budget, will affect their thinking.
