It's Getting to Be Budget Time - Part 2

As noted in our prior budget post, the legislature has to enact a bill which it defines as the state budget by June 15 (tomorrow). The current legislative version provides some extra funding for UC, beyond the governor's version to the tune of about $86 million.

The extra money seems to be earmarked for a variety of special programs such as food aid and mental health services for students.

How much of the extra funding remains in the final budget will depend on negotiations between legislative leaders and the governor.
