Tomorrow Into the Breach

From an email received this morning:

Dear UCLA Staff, Faculty , Retirees, Emeriti, Campus and Community Partners...

We are writing to provide you information about a Virtual Event from UCLA administration.

In the weeks following the announcement regarding a security data breach at the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) that impacted all campuses, questions remain about how to protect your identity. To support the campus community and answer some of your questions, a campus forum focused on protecting your identity in light of the security incident will be held on Wednesday, May 12 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m

The panel will include Lucy Avetisyan, chief information officer; David Shaw, chief information security officer; Kent Wada, chief privacy officer; and myself.
They will provide a brief overview of what types of information may have been impacted in this breach, why it is important to take action to help protect your identity, and what steps you can take if your information is found on the dark web.

They will then answer questions, to the extent possible; the incident is still under investigation so we are not able to answer specific questions regarding the breach at this time. For further information about the security data breach, please visit the UCOP microsite, which includes a recorded webinar in both English and Spanish about ways people can protect themselves.
Registration for this event is now open. The session will also be livestreamed on YouTube and later archived for those who are unable to attend.

If you have questions not addressed by these resources, please email
