Computer fraudsters targeting UCLA

The UCLA IT Security Office has indicated that there has been a recent rise in reports of individuals calling various members of the UCLA community and impersonating computer support technicians.

The fraudulent callers have been claiming that they need to perform a Windows update and have been asking the call recipients to provide their user account credentials (.i.e. user ID and password) over the phone. If you get such a call, hang up. Never give your computer info over the phone.
